Delhi Diaries

1st Part
We visited Qutub Minar and Lotus Temple yesterday. The most weird thing I saw there was, Not mentioning the Name of Graveyard of Iltutamish either on tombstone or any board by Archeological Survey of India which is responsible for maintaining it since 1951 and same with Iron pillar near Qutub Minar. A man sat down on graveyard of Iltutamish and a Guard came and warned him not to do it again because it's graveyard. We (A group of 3 friends cum Brothers) asked to guard "Of whom"?
He told us it's graveyard of Iltutamish.

 2nd part
We saw a pillar near Qutub Minar which was Metallic and I presumed it will be Iron Pillar but there was no way to know about it even it's name then I googled it's picture and location and confirmed yes, it's Iron Pillar. It was 23 feet and 8 inches long and most interesting fact for which it's famous is Composition of Metals used to build it. It's made of Iron but Rust Resistant because of an even layer of crystalline iron hydrogen phosphate hydrate on it and it was built by Chandragupt II. This pillar shows the Indian's knowledge of Metallurgy in ancient time and hence it's a point of attraction for archaeologists material scientists.

The Bottom Line
ASI should show interest in maintaining these historically significant monuments and tagging a board here with names of these and their History.
